The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida (UCF), College of Medicine Faculty Practice at UCF Health in Orlando, FL is seeking applications from outstanding endocrinologists for up to two tenure-earning assistant professors of medicine, or tenured associate professors or professors of medicine or two non-tenure track clinical appointments at the assistant, associate or professor of medicine rank. Applicants should be exceptional clinicians who wish to spend the majority of their time practicing in an outpatient setting. The positions involve delivering high quality, value-based, team-based outpatient care with opportunities for clinical research as well as medical student, resident and subspecialty endocrinology fellow teaching. Positions for clinical appointments will be primarily patient care with a smaller teaching component, while tenure-track appointments will have a greater teaching or research component in addition to patient care. Applicants need to have demonstrated outstanding clinical practice as well as a high level of communication, collaboration and professionalism.

UCF has grown to be the nation's second largest university and has demonstrated particular excellence in science and technology. The College of Medicine (COM) was established in 2006, is fully LCME accredited and successfully launched multiple ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency and subspecialty fellowship training programs, including endocrinology. The medical campus is located at Lake Nona, serving as an anchor to the 500 acre "Medical City", which is rapidly growing to include our university teaching and other hospitals, clinics, and research institutes. The success of the university faculty practice, UCF Health, has led to continuing growth and expansion that includes more clinic sites, state-of-the-art facilities and multiple specialties across our academic departments and participating hospitals. The college also includes undergraduate and many graduate programs in biomedical sciences and biotechnology.

To be eligible for appointment as a tenured associate professor or professor of medicine upon hire, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated teaching, research, and service record commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the associate professor or professor of medicine rank.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates that have extensive clinical experience in caring for patients with diabetes mellitus and thyroid diseases, with specific training and considerable experience in the use of ultrasound technology to image and biopsy the thyroid gland.

  • Candidates with an interest in the care of patients with the metabolic syndrome and new technologies for diabetes monitoring and insulin therapies.

  • Candidates that have interest and expertise in collaborating with existing faculty participating in adrenal and pituitary-adrenal research and endocrine surgery.

  • Candidates who have additional faculty-level experience in endocrinology graduate medical education (e.g. fellowship) programs, peer-reviewed publications in the discipline of endocrinology, and have participated in research trials concerning endocrinologic disorders will also be given special consideration.
