Staff Bridge Engineer

Job Summary

Fishbeck is initiating a search for a Civil Engineer with an interest in bridge/structural design for employment in Indianapolis. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by some of the best technical professionals in the state on projects that will impact local communities for years to come. Primary Functions


  • Work with experienced professional engineers on assignments related to bridge design, analysis, calculations, and plan preparation.
  • Design engineer on bridge or retaining wall-related projects, bridge scoping and inspections, load ratings, and other transportation services.
  • Demonstrate theoretical/practical civil engineering and specialized software knowledge.
  • Work closely with other Fishbeck technical staff from various disciplines to provide bridge design and other consulting engineering services, mainly for INDOT and local municipalities.


Minimum Physical Requirements

Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. May perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites. Capable of traveling to and from projects is required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.

Desired Education

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures

Desired Skills/Experience


  • 0-4+ years' experience.
  • EIT desired.
  • Internship of bridge design experience with working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and LFD Bridge Design Specifications is a plus.
  • Preferred knowledge of INDOT bridge standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation and GeoPak software.
  • Experience with bridge inspection and load ratings is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D software is a plus.
  • Excellent computer and verbal communication skills are a must
