Responsibilities

  • The Obstetric (OB) Surgical Technologist provides patient care under the direct supervision of the Physician and the Registered Nurse.
  • Prepare the operating room/delivery room and check to assure readiness for the patient, with attention to sterile technique.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in selecting, assembling, testing, and operating equipment and instruments by policies and procedures.
  • Perform as a primary scrub tech handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures and deliveries while applying principles of sterile technique.
  • Perform additional patient care assigned by the RN.
  • Contribute to expected patient outcomes by policies, procedures, established standards, and administrative policies.
  • Respond to on-call obligations with a 30-minute response time.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program.
  • NBSTSA Certified Surgical Tech (for Certified only - upon hire)
  • Active Basic Life Support Certification

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • One year of Labor and Delivery Surgical Tech experience or three years of Operating Room experience
