Salary: $125,000 - $155,000/annually + Bonus & Benefits

Location: Queens, New York - *5 Days a Week On-Site*
Hours: 7:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday

Job Description:

SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for managing the company's Food Safety Management system and coordinating the activities with the team of Quality Control Technicians and Quality Assurance Supervisors. This position oversees compliance of production and food manufacturing processes implemented under FDA FSMA and SQF management system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of food manufacturing production lines for the company and ensure interpretation and implementation of food safety and quality policies, regulatory, customer and supplier standards.
  • Serve as the main contact of FDA & other regulatory inspectional bodies.
  • Responsible for maintaining SQF management system but including regulatory compliance, customer expectations, specifications, HACCP, preventive controls monitoring, microbiological testing, laboratory oversight and operating standards.
  • Responsible for the Customer Complaint Management program. Perform required root cause analysis and corrective action preventive action (CAPA) in a timely manner.
  • Review and maintenance of assigned preventive action including assigned investigations (e.g., product complaints, discrepancies in production) and propose appropriate corrective preventative actions for associated issues and events relating to food safety. Assist with the timely completion of corrective/preventative action.
  • Assists in the responsibility and management including development, training, and retention, of Quality Assurance staff.
  • Responsible for reviewing product labels / packaging for technical accuracy and FDA compliance for new and existing items.
  • Responsible for the QC Hold Program. Handles protocols for Holds, rework and non-conforming ingredients, packaging, and products.
  • Maintain traceability program and relevant customer, SQF and regulatory requirements for Traceability. Additionally conduct required crisis management and mock recall exercises.
  • Responsible for research and development of new products and modification to existing products.
  • Oversees the customer sampling program.
  • Provides leadership and guidance in directing efforts to improve, maintain and validate sanitation practices and procedures.
  • Monitors the results of pest control inspections, third party audits, state and federal inspections, in-house inspections including follow up and corrective actions.
  • Conducts regular inspections and sanitation.
  • Directs pest control programs for the facility.
  • Oversees cleaning and sanitation procedures and evaluates including SSOPs, approved cleaning chemicals, training, and verification processes.
  • Monitors hygienic standards of the premises, equipment, building and grounds for routine
    maintenance/repairs.
  • Maintains and writes detailed SSOPS for all equipment in the facility.
ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Is accountable for Food safety KPIs, HACCP, FDA FSMA Preventive control compliance, SQF system management, trainings, oversee process and product control activities including training and effectiveness checks.
  • Assists with the employee performance appraisals including personal development goals of QAQA team.
  • Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety and food quality fundamentals including traceability, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans, allergens, control of contaminants, calibration of equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise QAQC team, assist R&D, Product Development team and verify production activities for Food Safety and Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
