Job Purpose: The Advanced Technologist, Additive supports prototype and production operations for the KARNO generator produced using metal additive manufacturing. This person will bring expertise in machines and additive process to help maintain and optimize our machine fleet and feed into engineering development activities for the additively manufactured hardware. This key role pushes the boundaries of additive manufacturing to ultimately improve throughput and drive down part cost. Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and perform preventative maintenance including laser system calibration on current additive machine fleet. Troubleshoot and resolve unplanned downtime occurrences on additive machines. Identify improvements and streamline post processing steps involved with additively manufactured hardware. Become an expert as newer production machines are introduced into the fleet. Help evaluate machine features and/or model alternatives to support enhancements to Hyliion hardware, processes and/or cost. Collaborate with engineering on parameter development to increase print speed, part quality and performance and introduce new materials. Help train and develop other machine techs to improve overall support capabilities of our team as we increase print shop operations. Job Skills & Abilities: Experience using GE Additive/Concept Laser machines. Attention to detail and ability to focus on precision details to optimize performance. Electrical/mechanical intuition to solve machine level problems. Knowledge of optical systems and control. Highly collaborative personality with a willingness to learn and adapt. Ability to troubleshoot complex systems level problems. A self-starter with good problem solving and good communication skills. Competency with Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to travel. Position may involve travel visiting engineering providers and hardware suppliers (10%). Occassional lifting weight of up to approximately 30 pounds may be required. Required Qualifications: B.Sc.
