Position Summary

The Engineer 2 - Facilities & Engineering supports the management and execution of facilities maintenance, validation processes, metrology programs, engineering tasks, and capital projects within a pharmaceutical company. You will work with senior engineers and managers to ensure that all systems, equipment, and projects meet regulatory requirements and operational standards. You will complete technical tasks, supporting project implementation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to maintain operational efficiency.

You will report to the Sr. Director of Facilities and Engineering.

Responsibilities



  • Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facilities systems and equipment.
  • Help manage routine and emergency maintenance activities for laboratories, production areas, and administrative spaces.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations through regular inspections and corrective actions.
  • Complete practical engineering tasks related to the design, installation, and commissioning of systems and equipment.
  • Conduct hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of engineering systems and machinery.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability.
  • Support the hands-on execution of validation activities for systems, equipment, and processes.
  • Support the preparation and execution of validation protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA).
  • Document and report validation results, addressing any deviations or issues that arise during the validation process.
  • Perform hands-on calibration and repair of measurement and instruments.
  • Help implement metrology programs to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Conduct routine inspections and adjustments to maintain measurement standards and compliance.
  • Provide hands-on support for capital projects, including installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment or systems.
  • Help with project documentation, including plans, schedules, and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with our teams and external contractors to ensure project milestones are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Support the hands-on tracking, maintenance, and optimization of company assets.
  • Support asset management activities including inspections, repairs, and performance analysis.
  • Contribute to the implementation of asset management processes to enhance asset reliability and lifecycle management.
  • Participate in the hands-on execution of reliability-centered maintenance activities.
  • Support the collection and analysis of maintenance data to identify failure trends and improve maintenance strategies.
  • Implement RCM practices to enhance equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation for all activities related to validation, metrology, engineering, capital projects, asset management.
  • Create detailed reports on project status, maintenance activities, and asset performance.
  • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Follow regulatory requirements and industry standards in all hands-on activities.
  • Support the development and enforcement of safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Participate in safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance and address any safety concerns.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to programs aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and technologies to support continuous improvement efforts and practical solutions.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities management, engineering, validation, metrology, capital projects, asset management, or reliability-centered maintenance in a pharmaceutical or regulated industry.
  • Practical knowledge of GMP, FDA regulations, and other relevant compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on technical skills, with experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of systems and equipment.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for engineering, project management activities.


Working Conditions:



  • Office and on-site facilities environment, with frequent hands-on work in laboratories, production areas, and maintenance sites.
  • Occasional travel to multiple company sites or off-site locations.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to address urgent issues or project needs.


The annual base salary for this position ranges from $95,446 to $119,308. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related experience. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and we reserve the right to modify base salary (and any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
