Summary

The Nuclear Plant Reliability Team is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, self-starter to lead the fleet as the Corporate Turbine Engineer. This position is responsible for the long-range health and reliability of steam turbines across the Nuclear Fleet. The Corporate Steam Turbine Engineer maintains the long-range strategy for turbine maintenance, replacements, and upgrades; leads the Nuclear Fleet Turbine Working Group; assists sites with determinations for balance shots; and responds to industry operating experience for the fleet. The Corporate Steam Turbine Engineer also maintains a working knowledge of turbine/generator support systems (lube oil, electro-hydraulic control, stator cooling, generator hydrogen, seal oil) to assist sites with troubleshooting as necessary. The Corporate Steam Turbine Engineer is expected to establish and maintain relationships with turbine and related equipment vendors and peers within the industry. This position is also expected to be the lead for Nuclear Energy Insurance Limited (NEIL) Boiler and Machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities; deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conducts engineering related studies.
  • Completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces.
  • Displays increasing competency to troubleshoot, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems.
  • Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures, proficient in technical and analytical competencies.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Accommodates emergent work and effectively multi-tasks while keeping supervisor informed.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other groups within Site Engineering, Corporate Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance.
  • Participates in technical training activities such as formal engineering mentoring and group specific training classes.
  • Safely performs field work in an industrial facility, which could include climbing ladders and lifting objects >25 lbs.

Basic Qualifications

Nuclear Engineer III

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A Master 's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • 4-6 years of engineering experience.

Sr Nuclear Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Previous experience with Turbine-Generators
  • Previous nuclear experience

Special Requirements

  • In lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, a selected candidate is subject to the oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until the selected candidate becomes fully qualified.
  • Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.
  • This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed.
  • Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.
  • Occasional overnight travel.

Working Conditions

Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.
