GENERAL FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Aquatic Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Aquatic Specialist will ensure safety and high-quality experiences in YMCA pools and aquatic areas for all members, guests, and program participants. The Aquatic Specialist will assist with member and participants' needs, provide excellent customer service, and maintain a safe aquatic environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Individuals considered for this job must take and pass an advanced swimming and rescue skills test. YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross lifeguard certification is required. Individuals must also have at least 6 months past swim instructor experience and be willing to obtain certification as a YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor. Individuals in this job must be at least 18 years of age and have the following abilities: exercise mature judgment and sound decision making; relate to people in a positive, but firm manner; observant; safety conscious; react calmly and quickly in an emergency; effectively communicate information on YMCA programs to members and participants; lift a minimum of 50 lbs and have full range of body movement. Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED certifications must be current and maintained.
