Starkey Hearing is hiring a Sr. Manager of Test Engineering at it's global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN that will drive defining and specifying our manufacturing test systems, create high quality specifications, and work with cross functional teams to deliver systems to the factory. Working with internal and external partners to help define and develop the technology in customized test equipment. Candidates must have knowledge of hardware and software development, qualification and test, and be able to identify and develop new measurement systems that cross electrical, mechanical and audio domains. Ability to define and refine system architecture for measurement and test systems working with cross functional teams to meet overall program objectives.

Approach and Deployment



  • Develop and maintain an enterprise level test engineering strategy, vision and roadmap which supports circuit, component, sub-assembly and final product testing.
  • Define and refine system architecture for measurement and test systems.
  • Engaging cross functionally on validating end-to-end system architecture design.
  • Evaluating deadlines, goals and develop test implementation schedules to align with product release schedules.
  • Ability to articulate and weigh the trade-offs in architecture and design based on many competing requirements including cost, schedule, technical necessity and others.
  • Ability to motivate and collaborate across engineering and business disciplines to meet aggressive cost and schedule goals.
  • Incorporate design for test elements into new and updated designs.
  • Provide real-time data analysis dashboards / reporting services for engineering and operations.
  • Develop, standardize, and document intra-department test procedures and DVT processes and automate where possible.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with other departments to drive process and test procedure improvements.
  • Responsible for mentorship, evaluations, conflict resolution and recognition of the staff to maintain highly motivated and engaged employees.
  • Develop working relationships with key suppliers and communicate departmental project requirements.
  • Leverage 3rd party suppliers, consultants and partners to maximize team performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task competing priorities.


Other Duties



  • Attend targeted conferences and trade shows.
  • Support Starkey Employee Corporate and/or Department Guidelines.
  • Check and verify quality.
  • Support corporate health and safety objectives.
  • React to change productively and handle other essential duties as assigned.


Education:



  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in electrical engineering - computer science required.
  • Master degree in electrical engineering -computer science preferred.


Experience:



  • 6+ years of electrical is a must. Computer science engineering is a plus in a product development or test engineering environment required.
  • 4+ years recent management or supervisory experience is required.
  • Hearing Aid or medical device industry experience preferred.


Knowledge



  • Knowledge of IC, Board, Component, Sub-Assembly, Final Assembly and System level testing.
  • Knowledge of relevant product development and test methods and best practices (ie. DFM, DFA, DFT, DOE, FMEA, Lean PD, etc...).
  • Knowledge of Electro-acoustic components and systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of test equipment and systems (Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Oscilloscope, etc_).
  • Advanced knowledge of test automation, database management, and report generation.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) test systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MSOffice & MSProject.

    Experience of capital and budget of capital budget experience
    4+ years recent management or supervisory experience is required.


Work Context
*Normal office conditions; ability to travel approximately 10%
