Departmental Job Description
At UT Southwestern's Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care (CDRC), we believe that a future free from the burden of emotional and behavioral disorders is possible. Our mission is exemplified by the extensive research done in the center on methods to prevent and treat depression and associated disorders, including bipolar, anxiety, and substance use disorders. We are looking to hire a full time Biostatical Consultant III to assist our Clinical Research Division. The candidate should have the ability to conduct complex statistical analyses; ability to develop data presentations, ability to clean data, ability to consult with outside collaborators on statistical analyses.
Experience and Education
Master's degree in biostatistics or related discipline, or MPH with a concentration in biostatistics.
Minimum five (5) years experience in statistical consulting with preference given to experience working in biomedical or health care environment.
Requires working knowledge of SAS, SPSS or other major statistical package (S+, R, etc.) and Microsoft Office (ACCESS and EXCEL).
Job Duties
Collaborates with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation including design of experiments of survey, analysis of data, interpretation of results and preparation of reports.
Writes statistical portion of manuscript based on results of analysis and address manuscript revisions based on reviewer's comments.
Assists client data organization. Performs statistical computations.
Provides graphical and tabular representations.
Develops, maintains and modifies programs for in-house use.
Collaborates with investigators in grant development including statistical design of studies and preparation of statistical portion of grant proposal.
Performs non-statistical components of consulting such as providing analogous examples and explanations using non-technical terminology and helping researchers formulate and clarify research issues.
Visits client work field whenever possible to establish rapport and to become familiar with and interested in client's research and data.
Keeps current in statistical methods and computing skills; researches to find techniques for non-standard statistical analyses.
May supervise biostatistical consultants and/or data entry operators.
Performs other duties as assigned.
