Job Summary

The Chaplain is responsible for the assessment of patient/family spirtual needs and facilitates and provides pastoral ministry to patients and families.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the spiritual care of patients and their families.
  • Responds to calls for sacramental ministry.
  • Supports an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care through coordination of clergy, pastoral visitors, and volunteers from the pastoral community.
  • Utilizes time effectively and efficiently to ensure patient referrals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicates and displays a knowledge and understanding of the role and capabilities of various professionals and collaborates effectively.
  • Utilizes effective verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills which reflect professional standards.
  • Collaborates with the Patient and Family Liaison representative.
  • Effectively communicates and displays a knowledge and understanding of the role and capabilities of various professionals and collaborates effectively.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:
Education - Bachelors degree in Theology or Ministry

Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Hospice Experience; 1+ years of Pastoral Experience
Certifications - Certificate of Ordination - Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA); National Association of Catholic Chaplains Certification - Accredited University or accredited training professionals

Physical Requirements:
Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
