JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access (OEOA) supports Penn State's strategic goals of advancing a diverse and inclusive community by providing expert advice and leadership to campuses, colleges, and non-academic units, ensuring a workplace free from discrimination and harassment. The office's primary role is to ensure the University's compliance with federal Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action regulations. We are seeking candidates for the position of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Specialist. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Equal Opportunity and Access, the EEO Specialist's primary responsibilities include:
This position requires regular coordination with, and some travel to, all Penn State campuses. There is potential for a hybrid in-person/remote work schedule. Education and experience: Candidates must have advanced knowledge and comprehension of Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, VEVRAA, VAWA, Clery, and all other related federal policies, as well as a demonstrated ability to effectively investigate and apply conflict resolution strategies specifically to discrimination and harassment complaints within employment settings. Additionally, candidates should have a full understanding of concepts and best practices related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging and a demonstrated ability to present relevant topics to various audiences. Minimally requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus six or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field preferred. Candidates must demonstrate excellent judgment, strong organizational skills, strong writing skills and effective investigative techniques, along with a high level of personal/professional ethics and an ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Must also be able to quickly establish rapport and work cooperatively with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and outside agencies, within a large, multi-campus, highly interdisciplinary environment. CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS: Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
