JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Financial Officer to join the Budget and Finance team to support campuses in Eastern Pennsylvania (Penn State Berks, Penn State Schuylkill, and Penn State Lehigh Valley). The Financial Officer will provide financial and budget management, oversight, and strategic direction to the assigned campuses while maintaining prudent fiscal controls through adherence to University policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Apply University policies and procedures to strategic operations with the intent to safeguard assets and implement improvements.
  • Maintain internal controls within the business area to ensure fiscal integrity and effective stewardship.
  • Collaborate with budget executives and budget administrators to plan and articulate financial goals and strategy for multi-year budget planning and assessment.
  • Develop enrollment-based financial projections including income forecasting models.
  • Allocate and authorize expenditures in accordance with strategic planning to achieve campus and University objectives.
  • Serve as the liaison to central University offices in the areas of budget, finance, payroll, risk management, purchasing and others as needed.
  • Support all endowment and grant administration for the business area.
  • Supervise, evaluate and train assigned staff.
  • Oversee regular financial analysis and reporting management of all funds, including general allocations, revenues, and restricted funds management.
  • Manage financial systems related approvals, monitor budgets to ensure planned resources are available and coordinate internal audits and risk assessments.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, strong leadership skills, a high level of motivation, and a proven track record of success as a member of a professional team. Experience with enterprise systems technologies and products such as SAP S/4HANA, Concur, Workday, Oracle BI, and MS Office 365 is desirable.

This position minimally requires a Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of relevant experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in accounting, business management, or a related field preferred.

Due to the financial or fiduciary responsibilities of this position, completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to the standard background checks.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

$97,100.00 - $145,700.00
