JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Cellular & Molecular Physiology and the He laboratory, in Hershey, PA conducts NIH funded research projects with focus on the mechanisms involved in vascular inflammation, atherosclerosis, vascular disease-initiated Alzheimer's development, and the development of prevention and therapeutic strategies. The experiments involve both in vivo, ex-vivo, whole animal, and in vitro approaches. The techniques used in the lab include molecular approaches, developing genetically modified animal models, delicate surgery and tissue dissections, blood sample collection and analyses, confocal, light sheet, and wide field microscopies, flow cytometry, and microvessels-on-a chip platforms. The primary purpose of the position is to actively participate the ongoing research projects in the lab, explore new techniques and new direction of research, and provide support to the PI and other research person.

Job duties would include but not be limited to developing, designing and conducting research projects under general direction of the PI; training research technicians and students, and facilitating individual projects; investigating and evaluating research methods and suggesting options for improving experimental processes and quality; performing data analyses, conference presentations, and manuscript preparation; as well as developing new research projects toward independent funding. Candidates who have been highly productive with motivation and passion for science and a wide range of research experiences, especially with rodent animal studies, are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate must have a PhD or terminal degree in hand by time of start.

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
