The Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Genetics will work with Professor Schindler and Jains' research groups to carryout interdisciplinary research in molecular genetics and cell biology using mouse. This position will be essential to the successful completion of
NIH-funded grant research on the fundamental biology of gametes and fertility. This position will lead a team of technicians, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers and report to the principal investigators/labheads Schindler and Jain. The position will design, impliment, and execute experimental plans and write/submit papers reporting results. The position and title will enable the scientist to apply for their own independent research funding from the
NIH. This is a limited term, non-tenure track position at the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Ph.D. in life sciences, 10+ years of academic research
Candidates for this position should have a Ph.D. degree and show outstanding evidence of research in genetics, cell biology, and biochemistry with deep knowledge/experience with the field of gamete biology and the experimental system mouse |

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
-experience with R-package, analyzing genomic data and strong command of bioinformatic techniques
-experience in oocyte biology (isolation, culture, microinjection, live imaging, immunocytochemistry, western preparation)
-experience in molecular biology (gene engineering and cloning, analytical purification of nucleic acids in agarose and polyacrylamide gels,
RNA expression and purification.
-experience in microscopy and imaging and image analysis (dissecting, epifluorescence, confocal, time lapse,
STED, ImageJ, Imaris)
-experience in mouse system ( genetics, breeding strategies, transgenesis and
CRISPR engineering)
-experience in sperm biology (isolation, immunohistochemistry,
IVF)
- ability to spearhead new collaborative projects between Schindler and Jain labs
-demonstrated excellence in research or organizational management
-excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
-detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative
-experience in collaborating and publishing on complex projects with multiple laboratories
-skills in written and verbal communication
-demonstrated record of productivity as first author on multiple scholarly peer-review publications
-experience in development of federal funding applications, including drafting of relevant funding application sections
-experience teaching undergraduate courses in cell biology |
