A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Anthony. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a publication record consistent with career level, and an interest in understanding regulation of metabolism and proteostasis by nutrients. Proficiency in oral and written English are required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and follow NIH and Rutgers guidelines. The position is based in the Anthony lab, a vibrant, interdisciplinary and energetic research group housed on the Cook campus in New Brunswick, NJ. As a postdoctoral associate, the candidate would have abundant opportunities to interact with members of the Institute for Food Nutrition and Health, Departments of Nutritional Sciences and Food Sciences and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The campus is also in close proximity to the cultural and scientific offerings of both NYC and Philadelphia.

Minimum Education and Experience
PhD degree in relevant area of science, such as Nutritional Science, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology/Physiology, Integrative Genomics, is required. Proficiency in written and oral English and computer literacy are required.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires knowledge and use of bioinformatics for statistical evaluation and illustration of big data sets. Experience with use of transgenic mouse models and mammalian cell culture is preferred. technical knowledge in basic biochemical techniques, including protein and lipid extractions and analyses, IHC/IF, siRNA, protein and nucleic acid chemistry, and sequencing technologies (e.g., RNA sequencing).
Equipment Utilized
Will use all of the typical laboratory materials and equipment for experiments to study RNA and protein biology, plus more specialized instruments such as a sucrose density gradient fractionator. Will use Excel spreadsheets, Word processing software, and graphing and statistical analysis software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to lift 20 pounds, and to have direct contact with rodents.
Overview
1) Conduct research experiments studying the regulation of protein synthesis and proteostasis by diet, drugs, genes and environmental stressors.
2) Develop and establish research protocols and proposals necessary to answer research hypotheses.
3) Prepare research reports and manuscripts for peer-review and publication in scientific journals; assist with preparation of grant applications
4) Mentor students at the laboratory bench and in laboratory related activities.
5) Behave in a way that keeps the workplace and laboratory organized, clean, and safe in accordance with established procedures and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments in operational condition.
Statement
This is a grant funded position renewable up to one year contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance.
