Description

This position is responsible for teaching, research, administrative, and service activities as they relate to the Decatur Family Medicine Residency program and the SIU Center for Family Medicine FQHC-Decatur. This position includes both inpatient care, outpatient care, and OB care preferred but optional.


Examples of Duties

I. TEACHING (35%)
A. Supervise resident physicians and medical students in patient care activities including procedures and prenatal care at the Family Medicine site and other outpatient settings.
B. Conduct and supervise inpatient teaching rounds on hospitalized patients.
C. Develop, facilitate, and participate in education conferences, seminars, and lectures for resident physicians and medical students.
D. Supervise, observe, and evaluate resident physicians and other advanced students in the Family Medicine Program.
II. SERVICE (55%)
A. Provide direct patient care to own patient panel.
B. Participate in the Family Medicine Faculty call schedule.
C. Provide emergency services to patients as needed including those who are identified as having no primary care physician.
D. Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities.
E. Serve on professional organization and/or committee activities both internal and external to the school.
F. Serve on school-wide and SIU departmental committees.
G. Serve on residency program and hospital committees, as assigned.
III. ADMINISTRATION (5%)
A. Assist the Director in the development of the residency program curriculum and assume administrative duties as delegated by the Director.
B. Enhance the quality of the residency program through the utilization of educational experiences unique to the Decatur community.
IV. RESEARCH (5%)
A. Conduct research in areas of particular interest and publish in referred journals.
B. Assist Residents and medical students in the development of research projects and help supervise their activities.
C. Per RRC requirements, must complete a minimum of 2 scholarly activities every 5 years.


Qualifications

  1. Board certified/Board eligible in Family Medicine
  2. Graduate of an Accredited Family Medicine Residency Program
  3. Licensed in the State of Illinois or eligible for Illinois Licensure
  4. Possess or ability to possess a DEA number
  5. Experienced with providing services to multicultural populations
  6. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented populations.
Desired:
  • Interest in Full spectrum Family Medicine; including OB
  • Interest in Academic Family Medicine including Research
