The Electrical Power Generation Technician (EPG Tech) III is responsible for providing high quality repair service on equipment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Consistently complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
  • Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
  • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect and adjust assemblies with ability to self monitor work quality.
  • Working knowledge of CAT generator systems, ATS, switch gear, and UPS.
  • Perform load bank.
  • Perform startup of multiple unit power generation.
  • Understand and apply CAT reusability guidelines.
  • Perform warranty repairs using CAT warranty guidelines.
  • Perform engine alignment.
  • Timely parts and core returns with appropriate documentation.
  • Timely return of warranty parts with appropriate documentation and packaging.
  • Accurate and timely service reports, DOT logs and timecards daily.
  • This position is required to provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
  • Accurately diagnose and troubleshoot problems on gas and diesel engines, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical engine repairs and adjustments.
  • Apply specific failure analysis and procedures in determining proper diagnosis
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and emission adjustments.
  • Mentor EPG Techs I and II as needed.
  • Perform engine, components and generator rebuild with no supervision.
  • Perform monthly service inspection of service truck and document deficiencies and notify supervisor of any non-compliance repairs required.



WHAT YOU'LL NEED



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or five to eight years related experience and/or training;
  • Prefer AA in Applied Diesel Technology
  • Strong proactive, intuitive, and interpretive skills to observe, identify, and address problems or complications.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills in written, verbal, and diagram format
  • Strong leadership and mentoring mentality
  • Clean driving record and CDL for field assignment as required.
  • Must be at least 21 to be assigned and operate field vehicle.
  • Successfully complete Work steps assessment.
  • Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.
  • H2s, MSHA and lock-out /tag-out certified as required.
  • ISO Level I Certification.
  • Complete arc flash and UPS training.
  • In depth knowledge of CAT product knowledge of electric power systems, and in-depth skills of the electrical, electronic systems, mechanical systems and components of a gas and diesel engine.
  • In depth knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
  • Flexibility to work other schedules including shift work and required overtime.
  • Certification in EPG Technician III required training and/or demonstrated performance.
  • Flexibility for travel and extended overnight stay

The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration.

Required travel up to 30%.
