Position Description: |
The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a postdoctoral research scholar in the Ignacio V. Ponseti Biochemistry & Cell Biology Laboratory (PI: Dr. Hongshuai Li.https://medicine.uiowa.edu/orthopedics/profile/hongshuai-li) to perform cutting-edge basic and translational studies in the field of musculoskeletal diseases and tissue regeneration. The lab is studying myokine mediated muscle/bone cross talks in muscular dystrophy and aging, stem cell based musculoskeletal tissue regeneration, and cellular and molecular mechanisms of osteosarcopenia in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This position will play an important role in a multi-disciplinary group that is both rigorous and collaborative and will have exposure to the development of novel mouse models for both mechanistic and therapeutic studies. This position will also have the opportunity to learn how to lead science projects and be directed and mentored to be independent. |
Education Requirement: |
PhD in biological, biomedical, or physical sciences required. |
Required Qualifications: |
Required Qualifiacations: Experience in cell cultures and assays, mouse handling, tissue preparation and histology, immuno-histochemistry, and flow cytometry. |
Desirable Qualifications: |
Highly Desired Qualifications: Experience with stem cell biology and familiarity with skeletal muscle or bone pathophysiology. Desired Qualifications: Excellent professional and scientific written and verbal communication skills, strong publication record, and attention to detail, ability to multi-task, organize priorities, and work independently to meet deadlines. |
