JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State's College of Engineering is seeking candidates for an Assistant Research Professor within the Engineering Science and Mechanics Department. The Assistant Research Professor will conduct optical imaging experiments in mice to better understand how neural activity relates to changes to blood flow and cerebrospinal fluid movement.These experiments entail performing animal survival surgery and histology, and acquisition and analysis of imaging data.The Assistant Research Professor will also document this work and author results for publication. In addition, the candidate will assist with troubleshooting equipment, developing new experimental techniques, and training undergraduates, technicians, and graduate students in lab procedures. Education and Experience: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Physics or a related discipline.Applicants should have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience and experience working with in vivo imaging and/or electrophysiology in rodent models.Applicants should also have experience in data analysis with Matlab/Python. Additional Information: This is a non-tenure-line and limited-term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire, with excellent possibility of re-funding.
