Overview

VTG is seeking a Supply Chain Administrator to support our Virginia Beach, VA office.


What will you do?

Primarily focus on administrative requirements and front-line internal customer service for the Procurement Department in Virginia Beach. Duties and responsibilities will include, responding to operations requests for order and fulfillment status; contacting vendors for expediting and fulfillment status and returns of non-conforming material/supplies; Costpoint system purchase order maintenance; and material catalogue development.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of general tactical duties as required to support purchasing activities
  • Under direct supervision, may assist in negotiations and apply limited knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines, practices and requirements to assess, plan and negotiate best terms and conditions and to minimize risk.
  • Maintain professional relationships with suppliers. May resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, claims, contract disputes, etc.) associated with terms and conditions of service agreements
  • Understand demand/spend profile for commodity areas, and provide this information as necessary
  • Track and report cost savings or avoidances
  • Maintain current accurate records and files of all vendor agreements and related procurement records
  • May assist in sourcing initiatives
  • Communicate supplier performance
  • Serve as the primary contact between VTG personnel and assigned suppliers

Do you have what it takes?

Qualifications

  • Requires an Associate Degree or equivalent experience and 0-1 years of experience in Purchasing, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Requires the ability to understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, etc.
  • Basic negotiating skills
  • Experience in Defense procurement or bid and proposal work, highly desirable.
  • Ability to understand military specs and read blue prints.
  • Knowledge and use of price and cost analysis.
  • US Citizenship is required.
