Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |
The successful candidate will conduct research on providing innovative transportation technology solutions with the focus on connected and autonomous vehicles.
The candidate will also support funded projects through original research, collaboration with other team members, development and internal evaluation of reports, facilitating the research meetings within the team, mentoring of students, and technically and financially overseeing projects' milestones.
The candidate will also contribute to proposal development efforts, thereby strengthening North Carolina A&T State University's ability to attract external funding.
The candidate will publish research results, in collaboration with his supervisor, in recognized journals.
The candidate will share student mentoring with his supervisor and will participate in departmental seminars and other professional activities as assigned.
The candidate will be also working with both graduate and undergraduate students in a mentoring role, and will be involved in conducting workshops, and seminars.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
North Carolina A & T is a public land grant high research activity university that enrolls over 13,300 students. The University is committed to dedicated teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service.
The Center for Regional and Rural Connected Communities (CR2C2) was initially funded by U.S. Department of Transportation in 2023. CR2C2 will serve as the Region 4 University Transportation Center (
UTC) charged with addressing transportation challenges within the southeastern region of the United States. |
Minimum Requirements |
1. Ph.D. awarded within the last five years in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial and Systems Engineering or related area.
2. A strong theoretical and experimental background with evidence of skills related to
autonomous vehicle technology and transportation technology.
3. The candidate is expected to have good skills in writing scientific papers and
technical reports.
4. Possess a high level of initiative and the ability to multitask involving different research problems.
5. Possess good organizational skills; detail oriented.
6. Demonstrated integrity, dependability, and competence.
7. Able to work independently requiring minimal supervision.
8. Able to make presentations utilizing excellent oral communication and facilitation skills.
9. Strong critical thinking, analytical, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. |
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
1- Good programming skills such as Python, C++, and
ROS,
2- Experience with development and deployment of AI models
3- Knowledge and experience with computer vision,
4- Experience with edge devices
5- Experience with high computing performance systems
6- Project management skills. |
