DESCRIPTION

Decypher is seeking Certified Surgical Technologist candidates to provide support to the Tripler Army Medical Center Honolulu, HI.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Must be able to walk extensively, stand for long hours, stoop and move freely for extended periods of time. Be able to work extended periods of time without relief and lift objects greater than 30 pounds. Good hearing, eyesight and physical dexterity, especially with hands and fingers.
  • Accuracy in body mechanics and movements. Ability to handle emergency situations requiring rapid movement and manual dexterity.
  • Provide assistance to the surgical team by performing scrub and other support services for major and minor surgical procedures.
  • Use principles of aseptic techniques in preparing and maintaining instruments, supplies and equipment on the sterile field.
  • Anticipate needs of surgeon according to procedure and operative technique
  • Transport surgical patients, laboratory specimens and blood products.
  • Prepare instrumentation and supplies for surgery as necessary, including use of various methods of sterilization.


QUALIFICATIONS

Degree: Certificate

Education: Graduate from Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) for surgical technicians, surgical technologists or operating room technicians.

Certification: Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.

Experience: 3-years of related experience, including scrubbing and circulating duties in the following surgical specialties: general surgery, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, eye surgery, ENT, GYN, vascular and orthopedic surgery

Board Certification: None

Licensure/Registration: None

BLS - Basic Life Support for Providers required.
