Job Summary:

The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a neuromuscular neurologist to join our growing team.


Responsibilities:

The chosen applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Duties include outpatient and inpatient clinical service, teaching and research. Weekly clinical activities will generally include outpatient neuromuscular clinics, EMG clinics and muscle/nerve biopsy activities. Outpatient clinics may include general neurology clinics depending upon department needs UW Hospital and Clinics, VA Hospital and other locations. Attending on the neurology inpatient services for four to six weeks.

Research responsibilities include developing an independent, extramurally funded research program. Teaching responsibilities include teaching medical student courses and clerkship, mentoring graduate students and trainees, training residents, fellows and medical students and/or teaching continuing education programs for physicians, other providers and the public. Candidates at the rank of associate or full professor will hold a leadership role in the department.

The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank.

MD or DO required


Qualifications:

Must be ABPN or AOBNP Board eligible or certified in Neurology.

Neuromuscular fellowship or equivalent experience required.

Training in muscle/nerve pathology desirable.

For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.


License/Certification:

Required
MD - Physician - State Licensure
Must have WI medical license by the time of appointment.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
