Position Description:

The Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is seeking applicants for several tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level in the broad areas of Neuroscience and Pharmacology. We are looking for colleagues who will complement our existing strengths in molecular and systems neuroscience, disorders of the nervous system, central control of energy homeostasis and cardiovascular function, cell signaling, and cancer biology.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.



Education Requirement:

Candidates must have a relevant doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent).

Required Qualifications:


  • For the Assistant Professor rank, this includes a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral training and a strong record of research accomplishments.
  • For the Associate and Full Professor rank, this additionally includes a record of teaching excellence, commitment to service, and a productive research record of broad interest to neuroscience and/or pharmacology.
  • Demonstrated ability in research and teaching and/or mentoring, and documented potential to direct an innovative and productive research program


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so.
