Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Engineer to join our electric propulsion development team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and optimization of thermal and fluid systems for electric propulsion applications through numerical simulations. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and advance our product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting CFD simulations to analyze thermal and fluid flow behavior in electric propulsion systems, including motors, inverters, cooling systems, and battery packs.
  • Developing and validating numerical models to predict heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermal management performance under various operating conditions.
  • Collaborating with design engineers to optimize component and system geometries for enhanced thermal performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Providing technical expertise and recommendations for design improvements based on CFD analysis results.
  • Performing sensitivity analyses and parametric studies to assess the impact of design changes on system performance and reliability.
  • Generating detailed technical reports and presentations to communicate analysis findings, recommendations, and design trade-offs to stakeholders.
  • Supporting prototype testing and validation activities by providing insights and recommendations for test setup, instrumentation, and data analysis.
  • Staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in CFD modeling, simulation, and thermal management for electric propulsion systems.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of simulation methodologies, tools, and workflows to streamline the design and analysis process.

Technical Attributes and Experience

  • Proven experience in applying CFD techniques to model and analyze thermal and fluid systems, preferably in electric propulsion or automotive applications.
  • Proficiency in using commercial CFD software packages such as ANSYS Fluent, Siemens STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM or similar CFD software.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, CREO) for geometry preparation and mesh generation.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation and post-processing of simulation results.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid propulsion systems is a plus.

Minimum Requirements (proficiency levels aligned to job level)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
