The Statler Hotel at Cornell University is offering an opportunity for a temporary Dish Machine Operator to support our stewarding function of the 2nd Floor Kitchen.

Your role as a Dish Machine Operator:

  • This position is responsible for the proper cleaning, sorting and storage of equipment, china, glassware, pots, pans, and small wares.
  • Store cleaned and dried items and equipment in proper locations.
  • Keep all assigned equipment and work areas clean and dry.
  • Operates dish machine, maintaining proper temperature, loads equipment and wares correctly, disassembles, inspects, cleans, performs routine maintenance and reassembles equipment properly.
  • Utilizes the three-compartment sink to wash pots, pans and equipment as necessary.
  • Assists in the removal of dirty dishes from trays and bus carts.
  • You will ensure the cleanliness of kitchen and restaurant areas by making sure all cardboard, recycling, compost is removed daily and area is swept and mopped daily.
  • And you may be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for in a Dish Machine Operator:

  • The ideal candidate is someone who is high energy and very passionate about providing hospitality and service.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, with the ability to read, write, and speak English and perform basic math.
  • Experience as a dish machine operator in a kitchen preferred.
  • The physical demands for this position require a Dish Machine Operator to be in good physical condition, capable being on your feet for long periods of time, and able to lift and transport items that may exceed 50 lbs.
  • The work schedule for this position will be primarily weekdays, but may include occasional nights/weekend availability due to business needs.
