This two-year postdoctoral position is made possible by a gift from Roy Eddleman, with the goal of advancing quantum science and fostering collaborations in the quantum field. The Eddleman Quantum Institute at UCI includes faculty in the Departments of Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering. The purpose of the EQI is to stimulate the discovery of new quantum phenomena in a broad range of scientific endeavors and to motivate future generations of quantum scientists through educational and outreach activities. The EQI Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is designed to encourage collaborative research in quantum science and the EQI Postdoc will have the opportunity to interact strongly with at least two of the EQI faculty. The mutual interests of the Applicant and the co-sponsoring research groups should be blended in the research plan to make collaborative advances and provide a diversifying experience for the Applicant. It is anticipated that interaction with two research groups will provide more opportunities and resources for a state-of-the-art collaboration. EQI Postdoctoral Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $80,000 with benefits as well as $2000 per year in travel support and up to $2000 in relocation costs. Fellows are supported for two years with a start date beginning in 2025. All application materials should be submitted through the UCI Recruit website: Outstanding candidates from all areas of interest to EQI faculty are encouraged to apply (see the EQI website: https://eqi.uci.edu). Applicants should contact at least one EQI faculty member to discuss research plans and opportunities for collaboration. Ideally, the research plan of the EQI Postdoctoral Fellow will complement the research areas of the two (or more) EQI faculty who will co-sponsor the Fellow. The EQI Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to contribute to the development of collaborative research in their areas and to engage in the broader educational and outreach activities of EQI. It is anticipated that the Fellowship will put the Applicant in position for an excellent future appointment in quantum science. The application must include (a) a current CV with a publication list, (b) a three-page research plan that outlines the collaborative research project of the Applicant and two EQI co-sponsors, and (c) at least two letters of reference reflecting on their research, one of which should be from the thesis advisor. A joint letter of recommendation from the UCI EQI faculty co-sponsors will be required later in the process from candidates selected for an interview. The EQI Postdoctoral Fellowship will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence as well as the alignment of their research plan with the goals of EQI. Qualifications Basic qualifications
