Cost Accountant

Position: Cost Accountant

Location: Pascagoula, MS

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Compile and analyze financial or cost information to prepare various reports, including:
  • Comparison and budgetary reports.
  • Journal entries.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Monthly financial statements.
  • Other reports summarizing the company's financial position.
• Cost Analysis: Analyze job costs to ensure they conform to policy and compare them to project budgets. Record any necessary adjustments in the general ledger.
• Audit Participation: Participate in incurred cost audits and interact with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA).

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Experience: At least 2 years of accounting experience is preferred.
• Skills:
  • Experience with General Ledger (GL) functions.
  • Proficient in preparing balance sheets and income statements.
  • Experienced in project costing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel.
• Additional Knowledge: Familiarity with or experience in working with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) is preferred.

This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records and reports, ensuring compliance with policies, and supporting audit activities in a government contracting environment.
