POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION
POSITION TITLE: Aerospace Quality Assurance Inspector DATE: August 2026
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DEPT: Quality Assurance
LOC: North Carolina

POSITION SUMMARY: The Aerospace Quality Assurance Inspector reports to the Quality Assurance Department Lead and is responsible to perform inspections on Aerospace parts to ensure conformity FAA and customer approved drawings and specifications; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Ensure that parts meet the FAA or customer provided Approved Design Data prior to being accepted under PMA or customer requirements.
  2. Maintain oversight of the systems used to provide the traceability of parts and materials in accordance with FAA and ISO:9001/AS9100 requirements. AS9102 FAIR experience is a plus.
  3. Maintain control of incoming parts and materials through applicable specifications of customer and internal drawings.
  4. Ensure that all parts and materials received for inspection are identified with the applicable part/material designation In Accordance with Aerospace customers blueprints, and Work Order Routers.
  5. Support the Quality Department Lead in maintaining adequate procedures to ensure the quality of parts and materials purchased from outside suppliers. This includes supplier control systems, audits, and defect control, through inspection.
  6. Perform Inspection function on parts by the direction of the QA Lead and all applicable documentation.
  7. Document and complete required paperwork and inspection records.
  8. Complete required paperwork such as In process inspections, first piece(s), FAIR(s), and input necessary information in the computerized work order system.
  9. Ensure that personal workstations and equipment are cared for and used in a clean and safe manner.
  10. Follow safety practices, policies and procedures.
  11. Strong GD&T knowledge required.
  12. Reading and interpretation of Aerospace blueprints required.
  13. Experience and knowledge of measuring machined parts required.
  14. CMM experience preferred but not required.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
  16. Metrology experience by using: Calipers, Micrometers, Rules, Height Gages, Bore Gages, Protractors, Angle Gages and similar precision measuring tools associated with a Quality Lab.

Education and Experience: Associate degree from a college or university and three to five years related and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Aerospace Manufacturing.

Language Skills: Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Aerospace blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret KPI (Key Process Indicators) graphs. Ability to pass practical assessments during training phase(s).

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual should have the ability to interact with and enter data into spreadsheet software such as Q-Pulse (Ideagen) and GSS Data Bases a plus.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-directed work.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be very loud but falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
