Position Highlights

The Department of Medicine invites applicants for a PhD faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Tenure Eligible. Appointee will maintain a productive research program along with other responsibilities to include teaching and supervision of trainees and students. We are interested in applicants with a research focus on precision cardio-oncology and regenerative medicine.

Primary appointments will be in the Department of Medicine, although we anticipate that appointees will develop close interactions with other departments, divisions, centers, and institutes at the University of Arizona, such as the Sarver Heart Center. Faculty recruited through this effort will strengthen and diversify a collegial and internationally acclaimed research base that is making major contributions to the advancement of human health.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop
    and maintain a NIH funded research program in area of research
    expertise/specialization.
  • Produce strong-peer-reviewed publications.
  • Lead
    or contribute to "team science" based interdisciplinary research
    grants/projects.
  • Provide
    instruction in professional, graduate, and undergraduate degree programs
    as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD
    or MD/PHD.
  • Demonstrated
    track record of distinction in teaching and/or research in an academic
    department of medicine or equivalent environment.
  • Successful
    track record of working with trainees and students.
  • If the individual selected
    for employment does not currently hold a faculty title with The
    University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson, they will be required to
    obtain faculty status. This will include obtaining letters of recommendation
    and review by the appropriate departmental and college review committees.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated recognition and/or outstanding leadership in major subspecialty division/section at a (NIH funded) department of internal medicine.
  • Established and continuing independent NIH-or other federally funded sponsored research portfolio and/or other evidence of active scientific research including peer-reviewed articles and extramural funding.
