Job Overview Provide effective, accurate, and impartial American Sign Language (ASL)/English interpreting services to individuals with disabilities, primarily serving as a designated interpreter for an identified UC staff member, the Assistant Dean of Inclusive Excellence in the College for Cooperative Education and Professional Services (CCPS). Manage support for the delivery of ASL services, CART, and related technology tools to the Assistant Dean in a variety of university settings, including but not limited to individual meetings, educational lectures, large scale campus events/conferences and departmental meetings. Essential Functions Provide effective, accurate, and impartial ASL/English interpreting to the designated staff member, including on-site and virtually, across all UC campuses, as assigned. Review relevant materials and assess logistical arrangements for assignments as needed; provide pre-orientation meeting coordination with additional or alternative ASL interpreters as needed. Collaborate with Communication Access Services Program Coordinator to ensure accommodation requirements have been met for dedicated employee. Provide orientation and training on accessibility tools and departmental processes for the designated employee, as needed. Support director in the recruitment, selection of, and on-going engagement with contract service providers and external agencies. Adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct (CPC). Provide education, training, and support to members of the university working directly with the designated staff member on Deaf culture and best practices as it relates to and as needed to ensure effective service provision. Support the Director of Communication Access Services in designing workflows and processes for service coordination and delivery as needed. Demonstrate effective cultural mediation while interpreting in a diverse environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education Associate's Degree in ASL/English Interpreter Education/Training, Linguistics, Education, Communication, or related field. Nine (9) years of professional ASL/English interpreting experience in lieu of education requirement". Required Experience Seven years of related professional experience providing ASL/English interpreting in a wide range of settings, specifically including post-secondary education. Additional Qualifications Considered Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), National Association of the Deaf (NAD), and/or Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) certification Graduated from an accredited interpreter education program.
