JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Music has an enrollment of approximately 275 music majors. Bachelor's and Master's degrees are offered in music education, music therapy, and performance in addition to a graduate degree in instrumental, piano, or vocal pedagogy, and an undergraduate major in music with a liberal arts emphasis.

The successful candidate will:



  1. Teach courses in music therapy at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  2. Assist with practicum/internship/clinical training aspects of the program
  3. Advise graduate and undergraduate music therapy students
  4. Provide support for graduate students' research
  5. Actively participate in departmental recruiting
  6. Develop a strong record of scholarship that enhances program standing and visibility of the department and the music therapy program
  7. Maintain active involvement in professional organizations related to music therapy on the state and national levels; and
  8. Teach other courses aligned with secondary area(s) of expertise


QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. Hold an earned doctorate in Music, Music Education with emphasis in Music Therapy, or doctorate in Music Therapy or other closely related field;
  2. Hold Board Certification (MT-BC) in Music Therapy; and
  3. Have five years of clinical experience according to AMTA requirements.
