HIL (Hardware-in-loop) Automation Engineering Intern - ASUX

Your Role

As a HIL Automation Engineering Intern with Aptiv's Advanced Safety & User Experience team, you will be directly involved in the development and testing of some of the world's most advanced automotive technologies. You'll help build and automate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing platforms to validate and optimize systems like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and in-car user interfaces. What You'll Do:

  • Assist in developing and automating HIL testing frameworks to ensure robust validation of complex vehicle systems, including safety and user experience features.
  • Design and implement test cases to simulate real-world driving scenarios and assess system performance under varying conditions.
  • Support the setup, calibration, and maintenance of HIL testing environments to ensure efficient and accurate system testing.
  • Automate test scripts using tools like Python, MATLAB, or other relevant platforms, ensuring continuous integration and testing pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify system issues, debug failures, and implement solutions for test automation.
  • Analyze test results and generate reports to provide insight into system performance, identifying potential areas of improvement.
  • Participate in ongoing project reviews, contributing to test strategy discussions and process improvements.

What You'll Need:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Basic knowledge of HIL testing, system simulation, or automation tools.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C++ with a desire to learn more about test automation.
  • Passion for automotive systems and an interest in learning more about how advanced safety and user experience technologies work.
  • Experience with automotive testing tools, CAN communication protocols, or embedded systems is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
