Job Title : NPI Manufacturing Engineer

Job purpose

Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies to support repeatable and consistent manufacturing process. Estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities



  • Manage the introduction of new product launches team into our manufacturing facility
  • Using proven methodologies, processes, and practices it will be the responsibility of this individual to work very closely with Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Business Development teams and the customer to implement effective on-time product launches
  • Collaborate with multiple cross functional teams throughout the organization to ensure that all stated NPI goals and objectives are achieved
  • Manage multiple competing priorities and influence various internal and external stakeholders to meet stated goals
  • Provide input on / collaborates on capacity and equipment requirements based upon new product forecast, growth estimates and current capacity utilization to ensure the successful transition to Full Rate Production
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings for circuit card assembly, cables, subassemblies, and mechanical box level builds
  • Review engineering drawings and interface with all Engineering groups to make sure new product designs meet Design-For-Manufacturing guidelines
  • Configure BOM's/routings in accordance with the product structure and submit related ECO/PCOs into Agile system.
  • Create production procedures, routes, and work instructions to facilitate production execution in compliance with engineering drawings and data, quality requirements, and regulations
  • Analyze and plan electrical build workflows, equipment placement, and space requirements for new products and to improve manufacturing efficiency for existing products
  • Perform sustainment engineering tasks to incorporate redlines and update drawings as necessary
  • Follow all Manufacturing Engineering Processes and Procedures to execute all manufacturing engineering tasks
  • Identify and differentiate between manufacturing, design, and component issues, and coordinate resolution of the issues with the appropriate individual, group, or organization
  • Perform Root cause analysis and identify and monitor corrective actions to resolve production and product issues
  • Promptly respond to disposition requests from manufacturing floor with quality team
  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvement
  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors as needed; and solicit observations from operators and engineers
  • Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and provide management with reports to facilitate process improvements
  • Review build yield data from all manufacturing processes to drive down defect reduction rates, remove inefficiencies
  • Ensures that processes and techniques employed are lean, reliable, and cost effective, supportive of LEAN manufacturing principles and optimization of process/product flow
  • Provide input on / collaborates on capacity and equipment requirements based upon new product forecast, growth estimates and current capacity utilization to ensure the successful transition to Full Rate Production


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Science Engineering or other Engineering disciplines or years of experience in lieu of degree
  • 8+ years of experience in an NPI role in a manufacturing environment with electronics and electro-mechanical products, preferable in aerospace and defense environments
  • Familiarization with SMT, Wave Solder, Select Solder, and mechanical box builds is a plus
  • Understand work order management and manufacturing performance tracking systems
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple, simultaneous projects and priorities
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, effective communicator at all organizational levels
  • Highly organized, superb attention to detail, capable of multi-tasking and following through on tasks to completion
  • Possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal), able to interact with all stakeholders and act as a professional representative of the corporation
  • Operate in a dynamic fast paced environment with an ability to drive change
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Project
  • Excellent project management skills
