We are currently seeking a Commercial Framing Materials Estimator to join our growing team and WE WILL TRAIN YOU!
Job Responsibilities
As a Commercial Framing Materials Estimator, you will need to have at least 2 years of education in Architectural Design (or comparable degree) or equivalent career experience. You will need to have accurate knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the building construction industry. Effective communication with the field and internal departments is mandatory for success in this position.
Additional Responsibilities of the Commercial Framing Materials Estimator Include:
- Performing building material take-offs for commercial designs that comply with company policies and local building codes in a timely manner
- Reviewing construction documents and understanding materials to bid
- Reviewing and correcting potential inaccuracies in materials list
- Preparing building material take-off documentation for contractor proposals
- Working directly with the outside sales representatives regarding structural aspects of the plan
- Following up with the status of take-offs and assisting outside sales representatives in selling and/or project management
- Providing data for transfer of the current take-off program for use by other staff
- Providing training for contractors in compiling specifications and material use
- Maintaining take-off software programs, modifying and enhancing
- Reviewing actual vs. estimated materials upon completion of each project
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
To qualify for the Commercial Framing Materials Estimator, you must have 2 years of education in Architectural Design (or comparable degree) or equivalent career experience. Moreover, you must be a self-starter with a strong attention to details.
Additional requirements of the Commercial Framing Materials Estimator include:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to communicate and follow-up with co-workers, customers and vendors
- Ability to work alone or on a team
- Responsive to short duration deadlines
- Ability to read and understand construction plans.
- Understanding of building design, building materials and construction terms
- Knowledge of structural, engineered wood, I-joist and engineered layouts
- Knowledge of building codes
- Competency in basic mathematics, geometry and trigonometry
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Professional appearance
