JOB SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for managing the IACUC office, including the ability to organize the review of policies, animal protocols and concerns and incidents. This position will build professionalism, knowledge, process improvement to improve work efficiency and expertise within the office while enhancing the service provided to the research community. In addition, the position will include performing employee evaluations and disciplinary actions, manage components of regulatory and accreditation agency inspections, and ensures projects are completed in a timely manner.

Job Duties



  • Responsible for training and mentoring of IACUC staff, participates in interviewing and hiring of new IACUC personnel and makes recommendations for promotions.
  • Determines needs and makes recommendations for staffing, new/replacement equipment, and/or services.
  • Organizes, trains, and directs the IACUC's review of policies, protocols, concerns and incidents and other materials as needed.
  • Organizes and coordinates IACUC meetings.
  • Coordinates various projects, programs, and procedures; Ensures all tasks are completed by established deadlines.
  • Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures (ARC SOPs, IACUC policies, the Guide, AWA, NIH guidelines, USDA, CDC, PHS policy, etc.).
  • Maintains strict confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Manages and oversees staff of the IACUC office.
  • Conducts and reviews employee evaluations.
  • Performs and reviews disciplinary actions for IACUC staff.
  • Manages components of regulatory and accreditation agency inspections.
  • Provides backup oversight of the IACUC Office in the absence of the Assistant Director of IACUC.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required



  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in the life sciences


  • Experience
    4 years directly related experience with at least 1 year in supervisory capacity.


  • Licenses and Certifications
    (CPIA) CERT PROF IN IACUC ADMINISTRTN Certification as an IACUC Professional Upon Hire or
    (CPIA) CERT PROF IN IACUC ADMINISTRTN - eligible for certification and obtain within 1 Year
