Description

Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) is the discipline that exists at the intersection of Data Science, Software Engineering, and DevOps to ensure the smooth production and maintenance of machine learning (ML) and other Data Science models.

The MLOps Engineer will work collaboratively with Data Engineering and Data Science to enable the successful deployment and management of models in production environments. Their goal is to automate and improve the process of model lifecycle management. They will ensure quality, minimize disruption, and maximize uptime - all in service of value delivery from analytic products. They tackle complex challenges that arise from the dynamic and data-dependent nature of Data Science models, making them an integral part of a productive Data Science Practice.

What you'll be doing:

  • Ability to collaborate on multi-disciplinary Agile teams to manage the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) of ML and other Data Science models.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, Scala) and scripting languages (e.g. Bash).
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), monitoring, and logging.
  • Experience with SQL in different databases (relational, NoSQL, Data Lake, etc.).
  • Experience with web backend development including designing and implementing APIs, preferably RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with ML model metrics to track for data drift and model drift, and manage model retraining.
  • Knowledge of ML basics (supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, etc.) and ability to work with ML frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn and TensorFlow or PyTorch).
  • Knowledge of ML life cycle management frameworks (e.g. MLFlow) and ML platforms (e.g. Azure Machine Learning, Databricks Model Hosting).
  • Knowledge of data analytics libraries (e.g. PySpark, pandas, NumPy).
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs) and other Foundation Model applications.
  • Functional understanding of firewalls and encryption.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields is preferred.
  • Prior independent, academic, internship, or work experience in the "Skills/Abilities" outlined above is required.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP for model deployment is preferred.
  • Experience with system integration in enterprise settings is preferred.
  • General knowledge of the manufacturing industry and business functions is preferred.
