Overview General Trades Technician I
The General Trades Technician I is responsible for the building exterior and interior integrity. This includes the building shell of the main complex and all ?owned? off-sites and all wall, ceiling and flooring systems and hardware and fixtures related to those systems. The General Trades Technician also assists departments throughout the Hospital system via the work request system, performing General Trades related or other work that cannot be completed by the requesting department. Must be able to work independently from written or oral instructions without supervision or assistance. Prepares estimates pertaining to material and labor costs and orders material for such estimates and shop stock as needed. May often assist and work with other trades from the Carpenter/Paint Shop on projects requiring fabrication/finishing and support other trades of the Engineering Department. May be required to work after normal working hours, weekends, holidays, work outside during inclement weather conditions, day or night. Responsibilities 1. Performs repair tasks related to the building shell and all systems integrated in that shell. Including but not limited to: floors, floor coverings, ceilings, walls, doors, windows and related hardware. This may involve repair or replacement as dictated by hospital needs or code requirements. May also require assistance/direction of Carpenter staff. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
