GENERAL FUNCTION:

Fifth Third's Financial Risk Management (FRM) business is comprised of three separate but coordinated asset classes: interest rates, foreign exchange and commodities.

A Principal will run the deal execution process and guide the internal FRM deal team through providing support and input in the management of client accounts, prospect conversions and internal cross-sell opportunities. The role will support senior leadership in managing FRM teams and begin developing an acute understanding of broader capital market products and the ability to strategically analyze credit limits, documentation and spreads. A Principal will also foster coordination and collaboration through positive relationship building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Development

  • Manage the drafting of the FRM Opportunity Memo and assist in the development of client and prospect strategy.
  • Lead the oversight, development and review of pitch materials/decks.
  • Develop good working relationships with peers and seniors in Capital Markets and throughout the organization.
  • Work with Relationship Managers, Investment Bankers and other Capital Market partners to deliver solutions which generate capital markets revenue.
  • Interface with DCM/BCM when appropriate.
  • Create, manage and prioritize a pipeline of opportunities.
  • Help instill the sales discipline and culture of Fifth Third FRM to Analysts and Associates through guidance and leadership in sales-related activities.

Engagement/Delivery

  • Create and deliver value added financial analysis and strategic alternatives to a targeted universe of high priority clients and prospects.
  • Manage e-Comm client activity and help coordinate E-communications.
  • Provide leadership in the creation and delivery of customized internal and external client presentation materials and related communications.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Maintain regulatory compliance at all times and assist with compliance efforts within the organization.
  • Design and manage monitoring plans, oversight and compliance assessments and foster and mentor the Analyst and Associates in the adherence to Fifth Third compliance policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage the team's Associates and Analysts to ensure junior resources are allocated appropriately and job roles are understood and developed.
  • Assist the Director in the training and development of the Associate and Analyst team members.
  • Create, sustain and develop an inclusive and supportive team environment leading by example.
  • Develop and mentor team members through daily feedback and quarterly performance reviews.
  • Provide input into staffing and performance ratings as requested.
  • Actively engage in new employee and graduate recruitment, training and other related human-capital related processes.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • At least 7 years of experience in the management, measurement and modeling of capital markets transactions as well as financial analysis.
  • Deep understanding and working knowledge of debt underwriting, industry, competitive and regulatory function/requirements.
  • Proven track record of success in working in a team environment to originate and close complex financial transactions.
  • Expertise in desk top applications (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and trading platforms/ systems of records.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills.
  • MBA, CPA, CFA or the functional equivalent preferred.
