WHAT TO EXPECT

Located in our Englewood office, you will be our Product Development Engineer - Fluid Power. The hose product engineering team is responsible for the design, development, and performance testing of hoses used in hydraulic, industrial, fluid transfer, and automotive applications.

  • The right candidate will become a member of an experienced team, executing projects globally to drive expansion of the fluid power business.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for you because in this role there will be opportunities to work with a diverse product offering spanning multiple applications and markets with the guidance of more senior product development engineers.
  • The product reliability team is responsible for product forensic analysis (FA), technique and systems development to support FA and providing statistical analysis on existing product performance to construct reliability models to optimize testing and product performance.
  • You will be responsible for creating new mathematical methods and validating correlations to advance the science of hose design, as well as piloting new product concepts and technology to drive innovation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Direct work responsibilities will include:
    1. Create and execute projects with a global team to fully implement optimization proposals
    2. Monitor the manufacturing of prototypes and coordinate validation testing
    3. Product BOM management
    4. Creation of lab orders for product testing
    5. Analyzing product test results
    6. Organizing and monitoring builds of test materials
    7. Benchmarking of products in industry
    8. Experimentation to enhance product design
    9. Forensic analysis
  • Interaction with a cross functional global team (including operations, quality, material development, process engineering, commercial, etc.)
  • Must be able to quickly learn to apply core engineering and six sigma skills such as problem solving, SPC data collection and analysis, FMEA, DOE, etc.

ABOUT YOU

  • 4-10 years of engineering experience
  • 1+ years of experience with fluid power product engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline or EIT certification with engineering work experience required
  • Advanced Degree in STEM discipline is preferred
  • Background with functional application of engineering techniques listed in essential duties and responsibilities is preferred
  • Experience with data analysis and statistical validation of process and testing data
  • Experience with hose product testing and failure analysis
  • Must be able to independently manage time and task execution needs
  • Ability to create, interpret, and apply mathematical and statistical models and information
  • Experience and confidence in face-to-face, phone, video call, and email communications
  • Ability to work with a global cross functional team, as well as team members from other areas of the organization including those in other nations
  • Computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and timeline projection
  • (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Power point)
  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes and new systems as needed
  • Limited travel may be required (5-20%), potentially including international travel
  • Excited to work in the office with great teammates
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • Full-Time

  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
