The company is currently seeking an experienced Cost Accountant I.



Responsibilities

Cost Accountant I

Position Summary/ Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Manager of Cost Accounting, as a part of a cross functional Team, this person supports forecasting, cost and project accounting responsibilities.

Major Areas of Responsibility

    Daily processing of contract orders and changes
  • Monthly review and forecasting of less complex projects and other short cycle orders
  • Maintain project budgets and revenue recognition in ERP systems
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures (JSOX)
  • Testing and implementation of special projects as required
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Meet regularly with Operations personnel to gage project financial performance
  • Publish various managerial accounting reports
  • Process improvement

Basic Broad Knowledge

  • English Language
  • Basic knowledge of cost and US GAAP accounting principles
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel)

Qualifications

Basic Skills & Abilities

  • Verbal and Written Expression and Recognition - the ability to listen to, understand and communicate information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.
  • Information Ordering - the ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
  • Problem Sensitivity - the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Maintains attention to detail, completing multiple or repetitive tasks.
  • Demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines. Flexibility required to meet reporting deadlines is required.
  • Hands-on style and able to work with minimal supervision. Good verbal and written communication skills, flexibility, punctuality and reliability are required.

Education & Experience

  • BS degree in accounting, finance or related field and / or equivalent experience in a cost accounting role in a manufacturing and /or Engineer-to-order environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Experience with SAP a plus

Demonstrated Physical Abilities

Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
