Position Description:

The Department of Biology at the University of Iowa invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar Position. The position involves the taxonomic and evolutionary study of oak gall wasps (Cynipidae) and their various parasitic wasp associates. Will work closely with Dr. Andrew Forbes on study design and implementation, lead specific taxonomic and phylogenetic projects, help with mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students, coordinate with external collaborators, and contribute to the writing of papers and delivery of presentations related to the funded research. Some travel for fieldwork and for visiting museums may also be necessary.



Education Requirement:

  • Applicants must have completed the requirements for a PhD inin Entomology or Evolutionary Biologyprior to their proposed start date.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with UCE and/or low coverage whole genome libraries
  • Experience in integrative taxonomy of parasitic Hymenoptera
