Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician

University of Wisconsin Madison
United States, Wisconsin, Madison
21 North Park Street (Show on map)
Nov 21, 2024
Job Summary:

The BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH) is seeking a pediatric emergency medicine physician to join our team to care for pediatric patients in the emergency department (ED) at UW Health facilities (e.g., American Family Children's Hospital, East Madison Hospital), teach students and resident physicians, and participate in scholarly and research activities.

Our faculty are highly collaborative and dedicated to all of our missions. Join our team today and be inspired to elevate your abilities!

Responsibilities:

Clinical responsibilities: We seek an Emergency Medicine physician to deliver patient care at pediatric emergency medicine clinical sites. The primary site is American Family Children's Hospital, the regional referral center and one of two children's hospitals in Wisconsin. As a result, we care for diverse communities that come from across the upper Midwest, including the highest acuity and most complex patients. The ED is staffed with an excellent team of skilled and compassionate physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, technicians, social workers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, case managers, and care coordinators who are similarly dedicated to providing the highest quality of care.

Education: Faculty in DEM are actively committed to educating learners. Faculty will teach undergraduate and graduate students through classes and supervised research experiences. Faculty will teach medical students by participating in and leading UWSMPH courses and tracks as well as supervised clinical care. Resident and Fellow physicians will similarly be taught through supervised clinical care, didactic, small group, and simulation activities as well as through direct mentoring.

Service responsibilities: The successful applicant will participate in service activities, including attending required meetings and conferences such as faculty meetings and educational conferences, completing administrative requirements, and participating on important committees consistent with the shared governance model at UWSMPH.

Scholarly activity: Faculty in DEM play an active role in scholarly initiatives to advance the field of emergency medicine. These initiatives include authoring educational and research publications, delivering trainings, and leading and supporting ongoing research studies. Our research enterprise includes a range of transdisciplinary research studies with extensive federal and foundation grant support and welcomes interested collaborators.

Overall, non-clinical effort is expected to at least be on par with clinical effort.
