IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Crew Chief in either our Walker, MN or Bemidji, MN office. As a Crew Chief you will provide leadership in daily operations of all Survey field crew activities. The Crew Chief is responsible for directing the daily activities of assigned field team members to acquire survey field data and complete assigned land surveying field projects. The Crew Chief will be responsible for providing survey assistance under leadership from an Office Coordinator or Senior Crew Chief.

Some key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Oversees and performs the day-to-day Field Crew operations to provide field data for all field land surveys, included but not limited to boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction stakeouts;
  • Operation, maintenance and care of survey equipment, data collection and other geodetic and reality capture equipment;
  • Transfer files between data collection and internal company project folders;
  • Quality checks and processing of field data; Download, maintain, and verify accuracy of project data, reports, and managing database;
  • Maintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients and coworkers;
  • Oversees and trains individuals to operate survey equipment including total station, GPS, levels and data collects for us in the collection of field survey data;
  • May perform pre-field staking calculations and preparation of as-staked cutsheets/deliverables;
  • Operate a company vehicle;
  • Observe safety and security procedures.

Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:

  • Advanced knowledge of surveying fundamentals and procedures recognized in the region work is being performed;
  • Knowledge of modern survey equipment, devices, and methods;
  • Experience with Trimble, Leica Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors and GPS preferred;
  • Problem solving techniques;
  • Knowledge of jurisdictional and industry requirements;
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment;
  • Possesses oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to professionally represent IMEG;
  • RPLS/SI preferred but not required;
  • Ability to collect field data in an organized, neat and professional manner for boundary, topographic, design and construction stakeout projects;
  • Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check;
  • Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays.

Education and experience requirements are:

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering preferred;
  • 4 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the construction industry preferred;
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
