Position Summary
The UIC School of Public Health seeks qualified adjunct faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning. Adjunct faculty are part-time, non-benefits eligible instructors who are offered teaching positions based on course needs and demand. Compensation is based on course load and some faculty may be eligible to participate in the State Universities Retirement System. We are currently seeking adjunct faculty to teach both in-person (in Chicago) and remotely (online synchronous and asynchronous depending on the course) in the following areas: Community Health, Environmental and Occupational Sciences, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Health Policy and Administration, Global Health, DrPH in Leadership, and in our cross-cutting Undergraduate Program.

Screening of applicants is ongoing, and applicants will be contacted if there is a curricular need that matches a given applicant's expertise and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Course preparation and, possibly, course design.
  • Preparation of lectures and activities.
  • Grading assessments in a timely fashion.
  • Uploading all course materials in the Blackboard Learning Management System.
  • Regular activity and presence in the classroom either in-person or through Blackboard (for online courses).
  • Host regular, scheduled weekly office hours (in-person or synchronous, on-line depending on the course).
  • Meet weekly grading deadlines and maintain up-to-date gradebooks.
  • Be responsive to student email messages and requests for assistance within 24-48 hours of receipt.
  • Respond to all university and departmental requests, emails, messages, and correspondence.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A master's degree in public health or a related discipline (depending on the course/program that you will be teaching in).
    • Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels as documented through teaching evaluations.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Terminal degree in public health or a related discipline depending on the course/program that you will be teaching in.
    • At least 3-5 years successful teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels as documented through teaching evaluations.
    • Experience working in public health or a related field.
