Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Plant Engineer to be located at our Port Arthur, TX Hydrogen / Carbon Dioxide Facility.

The Port Arthur Plant Engineer is part of the Port Arthur plant management team and is responsible for a broad range of duties focused on ensuring all aspects of operational discipline are in place and functioning properly for the Port Arthur facility.This position reports to the Port Arthur Site Superintendent and will interface daily with the Port Arthur operations and maintenance team which includes: operator technicians, maintenance technicians, and various regional engineers/technicians located in Port Arthur and the West Gulf Coast Area.

The facility is one of Air Products largest single sites and consists of two large scale Steam Methane Reformers (SMR) with integrated Gas Turbine Generators (GTG), a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), and a Steam Turbine Generator (STG). There is a CO2 recovery plant integrated with each SMR and an associated co-generation facility consisting of a GTG integrated with a HRSG. Two stand-alone off gas PSA units with integrated multi-service compressors are associated with the site also.

Candidates will be evaluated based on the following:

• Experience in engineering-based roles with a strong preference toward individuals that desire to progress into operations or engineering leadership roles A consistent track record in driving continuous improvement through analytical reviews of complex systems.
• Knowledge of RCA and FMEA with previous usage of these methodologies is a plus.
• A track record of success on Safety, Environmental, Quality and Employee engagement.
• A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• A self-starter with validated leadership abilities.
• This role is a safety sensitive position.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Support for safety performance, reduction of recordable injuries, Basic Safety Process compliance (BSP) and process safety management (PSM) conformance.
• Management of Change (MOC) development, implementation, and timely closure of open MOCs and action items.
• Drive operational discipline and best practice implementation and training.
• Develop, implement and support KPI monitoring at the plant level which includes work process development, the calculating of the algorithms and the reporting structure.
• Be the Operations Single Point of Contact with the Project Resources and Outage Support (PROS) group to develop/justify, manage and implement projects.
• Support of all aspects of day-to-day operations, including operator rounds, water treatment and troubleshooting.
• Working with on-site operators, operations management, and external support resources to coordinate operational outage needs.
• Identifying maintenance concerns, then developing and coordinating with the Site Reliability Engineer.
• Act as the site's Root Cause Analysis (RCA) complex facilitator.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

• B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. ChemE is preferred.
• Prefer 4-5 years' experience in HyCO (Hydrogen) plant operation and maintenance.
• Operations of equivalent complexity will be considered.
