Detailed Job Description

The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) welcomes applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Neuroscience to begin in the fall of 2025. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses, publishing high-quality scholarly research, and securing extramural research funding to support and advise undergraduate researchers. RIT's new and growing Neuroscience BS program is a joint program between the College of Science and the College of Liberal Arts. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to contribute significantly to building and shaping this growing interdisciplinary program. If appropriate, the candidate may also participate in our new Cognitive Science PhD program.

We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in neuroscience, neurobiology, or related fields who conducts research in cognitive neuroscience. The specialization is open, but preference is for human sensory, visual, or computational neuroscience. The candidate will have broad knowledge of neuroscience topics and tools, including practical experience using techniques employed in cognitive neuroscience such as EEG and fNIRS. They will preferably have post-doctoral research experience demonstrating success with, or strong potential for, securing external funding for their planned research program. Please note that RIT does not have fMRI or vivarium facilities.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated strong skills in teaching college courses, preferably independently (beyond Teaching Assistant). They will be enthusiastic about teaching undergraduate courses and training undergraduate researchers, as well as providing student support and mentorship, showing active consideration of the needs of a diverse student body. Potential teaching assignments may include introductory neuroscience courses and advanced electives such as "Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence," "Animal Vision," or "Imaging in Neuroscience".

We are seeking an individual who has the ability and interest to contribute to a community committed to student-centeredness; professional development; scholarship; integrity and ethics; respect, diversity and pluralism; innovation and flexibility; and teamwork and collaboration.
