Werfen is a growing, family-owned, innovative company founded in 1966 in Barcelona, Spain.
We are a worldwide leader in specialized diagnostics in the areas of Hemostasis, Acute Care Diagnostics, Transfusion, Autoimmunity, and Transplant. Through our Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) business line, we research, develop, and manufacture customized assays and biomaterials.
We operate directly in 30 countries, and in more than 100 territories through distributors. Our Headquarters and Technology Centers are located in the US and Europe. Worldwide sales exceed €1.84 billion in 2022, and our workforce is more than 7,000 strong.
Clinical areas of expertise
- Hemostasis - Our Hemostasis product portfolio comprises in vitro diagnostic systems, reagents, data management solutions, automation, and service, used to diagnose and guide treatment of thrombotic and bleeding disorders. Ultimately, Werfen's Hemostasis solutions improve the quality of patient care, lower costs, and assure regulatory compliance in the clinical laboratory.
- Acute Care Diagnostics - From cardiovascular operating rooms and catheterization labs, to intensive care units and emergency departments, Werfen’s Acute Care Diagnostic solutions are integrated and comprehensive. This whole blood testing portfolio line helps clinicians and laboratorians save time, lower costs, assure regulatory compliance and improve patient outcomes.
- Transfusion - Offering the broadest range of manual and automated solutions, our Transfusion portfolio delivers results accurately, efficiently and productively. A comprehensive line of serology reagents, fully automated instrumentation, industry-leading data management software and molecular products, help ensure donor-recipient compatibility for those in need of a lifesaving blood transfusion.
- Autoimmunity - Through a dedicated focus on in vitro diagnostics and lab automation for Autoimmunity, our highly accurate reagents and automated systems are designed to serve labs of all sizes. Werfen’s solutions help improve the way patients with autoimmune diseases are diagnosed, monitored, and treated.
- Transplant - Featuring molecular and antibody-based assays and software for specialized HLA testing, our Transplant products are used to determine pretransplant compatibility between donors and recipients, and for post-transplant monitoring. By providing high-quality assays, accurate test results, and innovative tools, we can help change the practice of transplant medicine.
- Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) - Our consolidated experience spans research, development and manufacturing of customized assays and biomaterials. We have significantly contributed to hemostasis and autoimmunity diagnostics, while offering end-to-end solutions for the IVD industry with the most innovative capabilities, enhancing unique product features, and reducing time-to-market.
