Job Summary

Animal Scientists are professionals who research and analyze the biological and physical aspects of animals to improve their health, productivity, and welfare.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on animal nutrition, genetics, physiology, and behavior to improve animal health and welfare.
  • Develop and implement animal husbandry practices that promote optimal animal health and productivity.
  • Study the environmental and economic impacts of animal agriculture and develop sustainable and ethical animal production practices.
  • Use statistical software and other tools to analyze data and draw conclusions from research findings.
  • Communicate research findings and recommendations to other scientists, policymakers, and the public.
  • Collaborate with farmers, ranchers, and other industry professionals to provide guidance and support for animal production practices.
  • Ensure that animal research is conducted in accordance with ethical and regulatory guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in animal science, attending training sessions and professional development opportunities as needed.
  • Publish research articles and present research findings at conferences and other academic forums.
  • Manage research projects and supervise research staff as needed.
